Equipment¶

Equipment items record the instruments themselves. Measurements can then point at the machine that produced them.

Registering an instrument¶

1. Click Equipment in the top menu.
2. Click Add an item.
3. Enter an ID and a name, then click Submit.
4. On the new item's page, fill in the details and press Save.

Equipment items record the manufacturer, location, serial numbers, a contact person and a status. Create one item per physical instrument.

Like starting materials, equipment is shared. Any active user can edit it.

Keeping a log¶

Use the equipment item as the instrument's logbook:

• Write maintenance notes, calibration dates and known issues in the Description.
• Attach manuals, calibration certificates and reference measurements as files.
• Add data blocks to show reference measurements, such as a standard sample run each month.

Linking measurements to equipment¶

Mention the instrument in a sample's description by typing @ and its ID. This adds a clickable link to the equipment item.
