Searching and filtering

Searching a table

Every table has a Search box. Type part of an item ID, name, formula or other text. The table shows only matching rows as you type.

Filtering and sorting

  • Click a column header to sort by it. Click again to reverse the order.
  • Use the filter controls in the column headers to narrow the table, for example by creator, date range or status.
  • Use Columns to choose which columns are shown.

Wherever datalab asks you to pick an item, such as a constituent or a cell electrode, start typing. It searches the text fields of every item you can see, across item types.

Finding an item from a refcode

Go to https://<your instance>/items/<refcode>. This opens the item directly. Refcode links keep working even if the item is renamed.

You can also scan the item's QR code. See Barcodes and QR codes.

Searching from the API

The Python client can search in the same way with search_items, or list every item of a type with get_items.
